Designed by YUYA of Atelier FOLK, this cloth features playful paper-cut-style illustrations and vibrant colors, capturing a unique artistic worldview.
Made in Nara Prefecture, the only region in Japan that still preserves the traditional kaya (mosquito net) weaving technique, this cloth is carefully woven with refined craftsmanship. Embroidery and printing are then applied in Wakayama Prefecture, blending traditional methods with modern sensibilities.
The cloth may feel stiff at first due to the use of starch during production. Simply rinse it a few times in warm water to remove the starch, and it will become soft and fluffy.
Woven from rayon thread, kaya cloth has 1.3 times the absorbency of cotton and excellent oil resistance—grease wipes off easily. Its multilayer, loosely woven structure ensures great breathability and quick drying, keeping it fresh and hygienic for everyday use.
